NEEVE allows name-dropping of a special kind. From a certain point of view, NEEVE are a bit like The National, nowhere near as toxic as Oasis, similarly entangled as the Kings of Leon and double the Kinks. Indeed, like all the aforementioned acts, the band, formed in 2018, has a close-knit family. It is made up of two pairs of brothers, who are also cousins: Felix Seyboth (vocals, drums) and Axel Seyboth (production, piano, guitar) and Marius Spohrer (guitar) and Philipp Spohrer (bass). The band name NEEVE should therefore also be understood as a common, fictitious family name. Musically, NEEVE are closer to acts like The 1975, Giant Rooks, The Neighbourhood or even The Killers. They are not afraid of big pop moments, which never sound overloaded. Maybe because they are always grounded by the very emotional, open lyrics in which Felix sings about his ADHD diagnosis, toxic masculinity, mental health struggles, for example, but also about love and his relationship with his brother. The biggest surprise, however, might be that NEEVE capture their dazzling, international-sounding sound mostly on their own.
